How do you prevent chin strap rash?

My 12 year old plays youth football and keeps getting a rash on his chin. It looks like sun burn after he practices. We have a shock doctor chin strap, and I clean it regularly. Any suggestions?

Make it tighter when he plays. the reason he has the rash is because it moves around on his chin so much. if it is tighter it wont move.
