Do you hear your partner complain each night about your snoring? Perhaps your snoring is so loud that you wake yourself up each night? Many people suffer from snoring. Snoring makes it difficult for anyone in the house to get a good night of rest. Luckily, most of the causes of snoring are a result of our lifestyle choices and most of these can be easily changed. Take a minute to read on and discover why you snore and what you can do about it.

The first thing you need to do is find out why you are snoring. Snoring is caused when the air flow at the back of the throat is restricted. This causes vibrations which can produce, as any snorer knows, extremely loud sounds.

While sleeping, the muscles in our throat tend to relax. If they relax too much then our breathing may be impaired and snoring can result. The severity of this problem can vary. Some people suffer from sleep apnea, which occurs when breathing actually stops. Generally a person will wake up and gasp for breath or snore loudly once breathing resumes. Sleep apnea and other snoring can reduce the flow of oxygen to the body which has a negative impact on health.

Many people claim they don’t have a snoring problem only to discover (from someone else) that they do indeed have a snoring problem. If you think you don’t snore but wake up every morning feeling tired an unrested, then you might suffer from snoring. Others wake up to their own snoring each night, which makes it very difficult to feel well-rested in the morning. The causes of snoring are varied. Much snoring is caused by obesity. Other snoring is a result of alcohol, smoking, tonsil problems, sinusitis, or congestion.

Snoring is often one of the many side-effects of being overweight. When a person is overweight they tend to have thicker skin around the neck. This can make it difficult for the neck muscles to keep the airway open at night, which results in snoring.

If you suspect that weight might be a contributing factor to your snoring then you might want to make some lifestyle changes. By taking enough time each day to exercise, your weight can be reduced. Additionally, ensuring that you eat a healthy diet will aid in losing weight. This is usually the best long-term solution to snoring.

Drinking alcohol and smoking are common causes of snoring. Quitting smoking will often cause snoring problems. Limiting the number of alcoholic drinks, especially before bed, can help those that snore.

Another common cause of snoring is how we lay when we sleep. If you snore you might discover that it is because you sleep on your back. This is especially true if you are a little overweight. Try sleeping on your side or stomach- that might solve your snoring problem.

Congestion is another common cause of snoring. This can be a result of allergies or even the common cold. Often relief can be had through the use of a humidifier. You can also try a hot bath or shower before bed.

Now you know some of the most common causes of snoring. Solving these problems can help you get a good nights sleep. Your family members will appreciate it too.

Although not everyone will be able to solve their snoring problems using the above recommendations, most people will. These home remedies allow most snorers to treat their snoring naturally and without spending any money at all. Now you can finally enjoy the full night’s rest that you’ve always wanted!

Did you know that more than 90 million people in America suffer from a snoring problem. With so many of us snoring it is hard to believe anyone can get a night of sleep. Snoring is hard on everyone in the household. No one feels well rested after waking multiple times to the strange snoring sounds emanating through the house. For all those snorers out there, a stop snoring home remedy is needed.

Snoring happens when a person’s breath is forced through too small of an opening. It happens during sleep because our muscles are usually more relaxed and it becomes more easy for our airways to become partially closed. Being overweight often contributes to snoring because the additional skin around the throat further constricts the air passages.

There chronic snorers and occasional snorers. Some people snore night after night while others only snore when they are sick or after they have had too much alcohol to drink. Not matter the reason for snoring, it is often a nuisance to your spouse, roommates, or family members. For this reason you ought to start using a stop snoring home remedy.

There is a bit of a stereotype that men are the ones who snore. While it is true that more men than women snore, it isn’t true that women don’t snore. In fact, thirty million women in America snore! Most of these women make sure that they have a stop snoring home remedy available.

There are many potential solutions to snoring. Some involve sprays or strips. Some methods relay on machines or equipment that a person must sleep with. No matter the type of snorer you are, you will likely be able to find a remedy. However, if you are having trouble solving your snoring problem then it is a good idea to visit with a doctor.

By far the most popular stop snoring home remedy comes in the form of sprays. These sprays are popular because they are extremely convenient. Some of them are made with natural oils, or extracts, while other use chemicals that help solve snoring issues. Many of them are flavored too so they are easy to take and can freshen breathe.

Nasal or throat sprays are supposed to last for a full eight hours. This provides ample time for a person to rest snore-free. These sprays don’t work for everyone but it is a convenient solution for many snorers.

There are some things one should know before using nasal sprays. It is advisable to brush your teeth before using the spray instead of after. You might also want to drink a glass of water before using the spray. Also keep in mind that it isn’t good to use the spray if you have had any acidic food or drink. Oranges and other citrus fruit should be avoided. If you have consumed them then drink some water before using the spray.

Snoring is seen as merely a nuisance by most people but it is a serious condition that should be remedied. Often snoring is related to a number of other problems. It could have an adverse effect if you have heart problems or high blood pressure. It is a good idea to take the time necessary to find an appropriate treatment for your snoring.

If you take the time to get your snoring problem under control then your family members will be very grateful. You can sleep well knowing that you won’t be keeping everyone else up at night. Try some nasal spray today and enjoy a full night of rest.

Think the headline is a little overboard? Not if you believe studies, such as the one from 2008 in the journal Sleep that followed 1,522 people over 18 years and found those with sleep apnea were 3.8 times more likely to die than those without.

Sleep apnea causes you to stop breathing while asleep. Each episode may last a few seconds. You may have five to 30 or more episodes per minute. There are two types.

Central sleep apnea occurs because your brain is actually not telling you to breathe properly. Various underlying diseases can cause it.

Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the tissue in the back of your throat relaxes and blocks your airway during sleep. This is the most common and the one we’re talking about.

Almost all with obstructive sleep apnea snore loudly.

Common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea are:

Waking up fatigued

Drowsiness throughout the day

Morning headaches

Weight gain

Dry throat

Health risks of obstructive sleep apnea include:

High blood pressure

Diabetes

Heart attack

Heart failure

Irregular heartbeats

Diagnosis is done during an overnight stay in a sleep lab.

Treatment of obstructive sleep apnea includes:

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), consisting of a nasal or facial mask hooked to a machine that produces a gentle air flow into your airway to keep it open at all times

Oral devices to keep your airway open

Surgery

Treatment relieves symptoms. CPAP is the most common and usually preferred treatment, if you can tolerate the mask. There have been few long-term studies to see if any treatment actually decreases your risk for dying. Stay tuned for those. The study in Sleep did reveal the risk of death went from 3.8 to three times normal in those who had tried CPAP.

People who snore are often told by other members of their household that they are keeping other people awake. This can put the snorer in an uncomfortable position. You do not want to be responsible for your family members being unable to sleep. You wish you could find ways to stop snoring, but you’re not even unaware of what you are doing since you are asleep.

When researching ways to stop snoring, your first priority should be to see your physician for an examination. He or she can determine if there are health issues behind your problem. For example, if you have sleep apnea, you may require medical intervention to stop snoring.

Surgery can also be one of the more effective ways to stop snoring problems. A soft palate is a cause of snoring for some people. The surgery scars the palate to stop it from vibrating and causing the snoring. Since the surgery can be rather painful, a confirmed diagnosis that the soft palate is the actual cause of the snoring will have to be done first.

Difficulty with air moving through the nasal passages when you sleep could be the problem. Nasal decongestions or nasal strips are some of the ways to stop snoring if the snoring is related to this issue. If a medical condition such as a deviated septum is the cause of snoring, then surgery may be warranted.

Some sufferers find that one of the ways to stop snoring is with CPAP. Usually used as a treatment for sleep apnea, the patient wears a mask with an air pump attached while sleeping. A constant positive airflow is maintained, bypassing any obstructions in your airway that prevent regular breathing.

One important factor to consider when trying to stop snoring is to make sure that the remedy you are thinking about is safe. It’s also important to keep in mind that while there are plenty of ways to stop snoring out there, they aren’t all effective. Some snorers find it effective to stop sleeping on their backs. One way to do this is to sew a tennis ball onto the back of the pajamas, making it uncomfortable to sleep on your back.

Your partner can be helpful since he or she will likely know if you snore at certain times and the circumstances. You may snore more often or more loudly when you are extremely tired. If this is the case, one of the easiest ways to stop snoring is by making sure that you get enough rest every night.
